A Brief Guide To Choose The Right Castor Wheels

“Transporting load from one place to another.”

Indeed, the caster wheels play a huge role in transferring all kinds of loads from one place to another, be it with the hand trucks, conveyor belts, normal suitcases, or any other. Basically, their importance is known in industrial and distribution facilities.

What are the varieties? Well, you can find castor wheels in two varieties: stationary and rotatory/swivel. Both the former and the latter is used in the need of any particular application. Apart from these, locking casters are also available, which can be locked with the help of a mechanical device or arrangement.

Typically, the marketplaces offer the castor wheel in 4 varieties, which include plastic, metal, polyurethane, and rubber. Buyers would choose a certain material based on the following factors for an application:

  • Surface conditions (smooth, slippery, rugged, rough, etc.)
  • Maximum weight capacity (higher loads would require sturdy wheels)
  • Chemical resistance (how it’d survive chemical or other liquids?)
  • Usage frequency (operational frequency)
  • Environmental conditions (temperature, moisture, humidity, precipitation)
  • Noise limitations
  • Speed limitations

Apart from reducing load mobility, it would tremendously remove the pressure off personnel and help through streamlining processes, such as smooth transfers of goods or commodities from one location to another.

It would be inappropriate to compare the caster wheels made for industrial use to that of a general purpose application like passenger trolleys. Since each application has its own set of requirements, manufacturers consider these production jobs accordingly.
